This strain originated in California, where an unnamed grower crossed Sunset Sherbert and Mint Chocolate Chip to create Rainbow Chip. After this was finalized, it was sent to Exotic Genetix for further work. Medical marijuana patients can use this strain to treat pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and muscle spasms.

The cerebral effects found in Rainbow Chip include relaxation, euphoria, and happiness. The adverse effects include dry mouth, red eyes, and paranoia. The THC content in this strain is between 18-21%.
