The Juicy Fruit strain is a hybrid marijuana bud that has been crossed between Afghan and Thai strains. It’s also sometimes called Freaky Taffy. The aroma is tangy and sweet with fruit punch notes, lemon, plums, and tropical pina colada.
It originates from Northern California, in the Bay Area. The bud itself is light green with orange hairs and a pungent earthy scent. This strain wasn’t named for its smell. However, it was named because its taste and smell are so incredibly sweet that it tastes like Juicy Fruit gum.
As a hybrid, the Juicy Fruit strain combines the best traits of its two parent strains. The Afghan gives it a dreamy body high and mental energy that is ideal for productivity and creativity. The Thai adds in the cerebral high that clears up the mind, allowing for long conversations or introspection.
Also called Frat or Frat Taffy, this is a great choice for beginners with its mellow yet uplifting effects. The adverse effects of this marijuana, however, can be debilitating for some. Dry mouth and eyes are common. A headache is a common side effect, and muscle tension and paranoia that can lead to anxiety. When it comes to THC content, it ranges between 15 and 20 percent.
There have been conflicting reports on what the flowering time is for this strain. Some sources say the plants can stay in bloom for up to 8 weeks, whereas others report 7 to 9 weeks. However, as a hybrid, the plant will finish flowering completely within that timeframe, so it’s best to consult with your budtender about when you can expect your flower to be ready.
Ideally, you can plant it indoors or outdoors in sunny areas with good drainage. The plant thrives best when it gets plenty of light throughout the day.
