Can I Order Medical Marijuana Online in NJ?
Yes. The pandemic has put medical marijuana patients at risk of virus exposure. To counter this, the state Department of Health has allowed home deliveries and online transactions for medical cannabis.
How Much Does Medical Marijuana Cost in NJ?
One ounce of raw bud product has a price range of $320 to $480 for medical marijuana patients.
New Jersey state does not regulate the price of medical marijuana yet. But, state and local sales taxes are in place. Regulations base their amount on weight and add to retailers’ prices.
Do I Need a Medical Card to Buy at a Dispensary in New Jersey?
No. You only have to present a valid government ID to buy from a dispensary. Any adult who is 21 years old or older can legally buy from an approved dispensary.
All medical marijuana patients, especially those under 21 years old, must register with the New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program (NJMCP). This requires a recommendation from a doctor and an application to the state.
What Qualifies for a Medical Card in NJ?
You must be of legal age, at least 18 years old, to qualify for a medical card. Getting a medical marijuana card requires you to submit at least 2 valid IDs and a current billing statement to prove age and residency.
Patients who are younger than 18 years old should have a registered caregiver to apply for them.
The following are the qualifying medical conditions to get a medical card:
- ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease
- Chronic pain
- Crohn’s disease
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Intractable Skeletal Spasticity

- A terminal illness with a prognosis of fewer than 12 months to live

How Long Does It Take to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in NJ?
Your approval should come within 30 days after your application. The New Jersey Department of Health will contact you through email for this.
Once approved, you must pay the state registration fee of $50. Expect to receive your medical card after 7 to 10 days.
Can You Use an Out-of-State Medical Card in New Jersey?
Yes, but up to a certain extent only. Out-of-state patients can receive reciprocity or be considered qualifying patients for up to 6 months only.
They can use and own medical marijuana up to the amount that New Jersey’s medical marijuana program allows. This amount should also follow their home state’s allowance.
They can only buy from dispensaries if they have authorization from a New Jersey medical practitioner based on the qualifying conditions of New Jersey.
Does Medicaid Cover Medical Marijuana in NJ?
No, Medicaid does not cover medical marijuana in New Jersey.
Furthermore, the New Jersey Marijuana registration fee is mandatory. No other state registry card can subsidize it.
